[ There's a soft smile that turns into a yawn; something about the bitter cold makes one want to sleep, and a lot. ]
Let me just... [ There's blankets to be gathered and more tea to drink and then he'll be 'bunked' in this corner because talking to Kay is better than letting the ghosts of whispers into his head right now or at any moment. ]
Okay. [ Announces the blanket captain, ] I'm good for now.
[ Cassian rolls his eyes and finishes his tea, curling himself into a ball and trying to ignore the seeping cold. He'll survive, he's relatively sure of it, but he hates feeling trapped. Even with Kay, who helps a lot, Cassian fidgets and pulls at being locked in one place, unable to move, unable to leave.
Not to mention the fact that he's worried they're practically sitting ducks for scavengers or anyone else who decides to come poking around during the storm.
Eventually he drifts off, but within a few minutes startles awake again.
Nightmares. Kay is probably used to Cassian's broken sleep cycle by now. ]
[ When he hears Cassian's fidgeting stop, K-2 peers over his shoulder to check that he's fallen asleep. He then begins a mental timer counting down until-- Ah. Eight minutes, thirty four seconds. Not bad. ]
I know you are.
[ That doesn't mean that a sweater would have any purpose for K-2SO. But he knows that in this state, telling Cassian such would be pointless. ]
[ K-2 pauses, then completely abandons the monitors and goes to crouch by Cassian's blanket pile. He tilts his head, as if considering his words, then speaks. ]
If I were a stubborn organic child who refused to sleep, and it was your duty to ensure I was well rested, what would you tell me?
[ Cassian's expression turns sour, briefly. The idea of being a parent is laughable, and he was a child who couldn't sleep, once, and now he just misses his parents and misses the what-ifs of a stable, happy, life and shit.

Very well. I will keep watch.

[ They'd both stammered and it hadn't ended well. ]
It's better than if you weren't.
no subject
It would be better for both of us if we were not here.

[ That's not exactly untrue. ]
It'd be worse for me if I was here and you weren't, was my point.

You haven't got any yarn.
no subject
It would be good, then I could hug you when it's cold and not get stuck.
[ Also it gives him something to do, something with his hands, something not innately destructive. ]
I'll get yarn.

Where are you going to get yarn?

Farming planet.

[ Cassian does not tend to cry with a witness. It has happened, but rarely. ]
Very well. Once the storm clears, we will go find a farming planet.

Wish it was.
